2009 was our 50th anniversary year and to celebrate it we used a Bible Exhibition supplied by the Open Air Mission whom some of you may have encountered preaching in the city centre or visiting the Midsummer Fair.

On Saturday 30 May Professor John Lennox was our guest speaker.  John enjoyed fellowship with this church while at Cambridge University as an undergrad and while he did his PhD.  He has used his abilities to give lectures in Russia and, has written books on Creation.  He has become better known for his public debates with Professor Richard Dawkins on the subject of design versus Darwinism.

 Our preacher at the Evening Service on Sunday 31 May was Mr Peter Brandon.  Some visitors to this website will remember Mr Brandon from his special series of meetings for children, especially ‘Space Hour’ in the 1960s.  Peter is now in his eighties but his energy does not appear to diminish.  In early 2009 he was conducting meetings in Australia, and we enjoyed his return to conduct our anniversary Evening service.

From the 1-5 June we invited local Junior Schools to visit the Bible Exhibition when church members, dressed as New Testament Bible characters, explained the work of Jesus from the point of view of their character (see photos).

The first Friday Focus took place on 25 September 2009 at 7.30pm.  This is a meeting designed primarily for younger Christians to consider some of the simple but fundamental Bible truths that should be important to each believer.  The meetings are convened in fellowship with the assemblies at The Gospel Hall, Ship Lane, Ely; The Gospel Hall, Helions Bumpstead and Lancaster Hall, Tollgate Lane, Bury St Edmunds.  A list of dates will be posted in the diary page.

The next Saturday ministry meeting is planned for 29 May 2010 at 7pm when the speaker expected is Mr Nitish Patel.
